Context

The population of Burkina Faso is characterised by its extreme youth, with 67% of the population being under 25 years old. More than half of the population are young people and women. This category of the population is largely affected by underemployment, unemployment and lack of opportunities. In the cities of Ouahigouya (Northern Region), Kaya (Central Northern Region) and Fada N’Gourma (Eastern Region), job insecurity is exacerbated by the safety context. Around 75% of young Burkinabe aged 16 to 24 have no technical or professional training. Trained young people, as well as those who have not benefited from any training find themselves limited in their search for employment or the development of a competitive micro-enterprise.

Goals

Strengthen the transversal skills of young people and women in the regions of Ouahigouya, Kaya and Fada N’Gourma in order to facilitate their economic integration.

Beneficiaries

  • 20 young people and women reinforced in technical capacities and transversal skills
  • 40 trainers strengthened in key cross-cutting skills
